Just before they teleport down to a planet or elsewhere. Unfamiliar to myself. Sounds like a British military term. Is it common in the UK for non military activity?

kit out or up
Verb
Chiefly Brit to provide with clothes or equipment needed for a particular activity

It's a commonly used term over here. It's used in a more generally sense to indicate readiness to deal with something eg: "I'm kitted out to deal with this".

Thanks. I had thought perhaps army mess kits might've played a hand in that somehow. Decked out is a term we sometimes use over here. Dunno where it comes from.

In my circle we usually say "kitted out" for something like a sport,
or activity that requires boots or something,
as in having all the"kit."...but, it can also apply to fancy dress too....if the costume has military affiliation.

"Decked out", sounds a bit more like something someone might say if a room was elegantly decorated for a party or
a social gathering like a ball which required flamboyant
or ornate dress.

if that helps
