I read or heard that a Season 5 was planned, where, of the rebels, those would have survived the end-of-Season-4 shootdown, whose actors had decided to stay in the series; but Season 5 was not made.

Please where is an online or published-on-paper proof of this, which would be acceptable as a reference in a Wikipedia article?

There's an interview with Terry Nation on youtube where he mentions at least the possibility of bringing back characters after the end of season 4, and having thought of "several ways out of" the season 4 ending. He doesn't go into any specifics or say how much was planned beyond that though...

I don't understand how people so intimately involved with the show, who presumably cared about it, could go the entire rest of their lives without explaining to fans what their ideas and plans were for continuing the series. They do interviews, they go to conventions, but they keep this sort of thing to themselves.
