Cloverfield. It's lots of fun, but it's ultimately derailed by the ridiculous need to insert a romantic sub-plot. It also stretches believability to the limit as well.

Cube.

IMO, one of the best SF films of all times and certainly in the best 3 of the 90's. A seemingly simple but chilling idea, that works both as a cluastrophobic, bleak thriller and a pitch black satire on delusion, bueracracy and selfishness. It brilliantly plays with the audience expectations of the characters and the environment they inhabit. This films gives us a world where people die unoticed just because someone made an error in the paperwork and no-one could be bothered to try and stop the consequences. It's suddenly more scary that Big Brother is not watching you. Visually, the film manages to make what is basically the same set lit different ways utterly hypnotic.

Stunning.

I can't bring myself to watch the sequels, they could never hope to be as perfect.

I've been watching Gerry Anderson's 'The Secret Service', one of his lesser known series. It was made in 1969 at it features a vicar, Fr. Unwin who has a miniaturising machine which he uses to enable his sidekick MAtthew to break in to all sorts of places.

This series was a mix of puppets and live action. It flopped in the ratings but nowadays is regarded as a bit of a classic.
