Dipped into Dempsey & Makepeace again with my favourite episode, Wheelman, from season 2.

Told you it was worth the candle! The reconstructed trailer for The Ambassadors of Death immediately after episode 7 of The Silurians made the set for me, although I've just watched the documentaries rather than your actual episodes.

[REC], a fairly well-done Spanish horror movie that's a combo of 28 Days Later and Blair Witch Project, very Romero inspired. It's worth it if you like plague-zombie stuff. There's a decent twist near the end that has me wanting to see the sequel that's coming out next year.

I watched "Things to Come" last night, the 1936 movie based H G Wells's book. In some ways this was a very ground breaking film but I think some of the dialogue is a bit turgid.

H. G. Wells thought WW2 would arrest progress when in fact it accelerated progress. Still in a way, his prediction that it would degenerate into a lot of localised wars was not so far off the mark. After all consider this: 1947 is the only year since the end of WW2 when no British soldier has been killed on active service somewhere or other in the world.

Yeah, it's a film that's much easier on the eye than on the ear. Unfortunatelly, the script has the same didatic tone as Wells later books.

Tried watching "Mosquito Squadron" a few days back, simply for the sight of several of De Havilland's finest, but the poor writing and terrible acting put me off.

Pity really, I always liked that film as a kid.
