Listening to 'A Guide to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'
(which has some interesting information about how Douglas Adams arrived at 'the answer' :
Adams said that, having decided it should be a number, he tried to think what an "ordinary number" should be. Adams ruled out non-integers, then he remembered having worked as a "prop-borrower" for John Cleese on his Video Arts training videos. Cleese needed a funny number that would serve as the punchline to a long sketch involving himself (as a bank teller) and Tim Brooke-Taylor (as a customer). Adams believed that number that Cleese came up with was 42 and he decided to use it.) _________________ Last Watched: The Beginning (compilation), March 2021 |

Recently saw Meet the Natives, Wife Swap, and The X Factor. These programmes were typical british tv, because they were all crap. |

If you knew they were going to be crap, why watch them?
Anyhoo, this week I ar mostly bin dipping into the new 40th Anniversary box set of The Prisoner. The extras are fantastic. Cheepskates who are flinching at the cost may like to know that Virgin are knocking them out of their shops at the bargaintastic price of 35 notes.

The Carlton UFO DVD box sets (if you're lucky enough to catch an HMV sale when they're down to 20 notes apiece) are well worth having.
Incidentally, I've just slung out my off air VHS copies from the Tyne Tees 1988 repest run and the BBC2 run. _________________ "Now then, Butch Harry, tell us about Fulham..." |
