Last January I watched UTOPIA season 1 - told loads of people how good it was. Nobody watched it that I know. Admittedly it did look like it was gonna be a 'one off', but I was so hoping they'd write a sequel. Well it must have been reasonably successful as season 1 did pick up a three awards. Probably why season 2 was commissioned. Well here it is UTOPIA season 2 on C4, now lots of my friends are frantically trying to catch-up with season one on C4 On-Demand. Don't blame them, it's probably the best British drama since Life on Mars (no that's not a comparison). Have re-watched Season 1, I have to say on reflection that I think the producers and videographers / camera people on Utopia must have been inspired by the videography and editing on 'Breaking Bad' - I hadn't made the comparrison before - as I watched the entire 'Breaking Bad' seasons after I saw Utopia last January. - Also the filming on Utopia is very reminiscent of Quentin Tarantino's style. Excellent is all I can say.

So if you haven't seen it give it a go. It's all on 4OD at the moment.

So anybody watching this?

I'd be interested in what you think.

Hey Sharp,

Reading about Black Mirror, a lot of people recommend and rate Utopia very highly. But from the synopsis I've read, I can't really see the connection or even imagine what they could do with that story.

Have you got a quick, spoiler-free, synopsis that you'd be willing to share?

UTOPIA is about population and population control. A bit like Pylene 50 in B7, where in Utopia they plan to introduce the drug via a fake disease called Russian Flu. I well recommend it - there are lots of twists, turns and surprises - plus it's very graphically violent for a TV series. The cinematography and colour scenes used are awesome, brilliant fiming angles and very good acting especially by the main character Jessica Hyde. I really can't express how good it is. You'll need to watch it:
