We discussed at the Bristol meet that we haven't had a Birmingham meet for some time. Anyone fancy it? If so, some date suggestions would be good. _________________ --

I would be up for meeting. How about the 21st September as a provisional date? |

How was your Bristol trip? We were all a little sad you didn't make it to the meet-up before we all left! |

Emma was suggesting on the Redemption list maybe October. The 5th and 26th October are OK for me. _________________ --

Well just replied to you on Horizon. I definitely can't do the 5th, but I could maybe the 26th, another date would be better though. |

Well I did finally get into Bristol at 7.20pm!
Wot sort of meetup is it where everyone's left the pub before closing time anyway?! Disgraceful I call it!
I woulda been there a lot earlier but unfortunately I had to work for a couple of hours right in the middle of Saturday afternoon ... And then things didn't go entirely to plan, so that couple of hours turned into more like 3 hours... Then Steve phoned me up to see where I was, and I explained that er, um, I'd almost left Brum, yes, really, any minute now... He said only 4 people were left at the pub and 2 of them were about to depart, so there wasn't gonna be anyone there by the time I arrived... Thus I'd already "missed the meet" as he put it...
So, I set off anyway and went straight round to the friends I was gonna stay with, where there was a home-made curry nosh with some bottles of ale, and a few episodes of B7 to watch... So that was quite a nice B7 evening, but sadly not with any of the folks on here

Oi, no I didn't - this is the shortest route, guv'nor!
Besides, I've got a thingy for attaching my sat nav to me bike, so that got me straight there! Well, ok, I suppose I got lost in time somewhat, but not lost in space
I did get rather lost on the way back tho, thanks to the M4 being closed and a stupid diversion with nonsensical signs ... I finally gave up trying to find my way round it, and rode off to Gloucester via the A roads along with a small convoy of equally confused lorry drivers, then picked up the motorway from there _________________

Ooops, back on topic, errrr, right, yes...
Well, I don't really have any preference - pretty much any Saturday is the same as any other for me in September or October. I'll be a bit more cautious this time about accepting work bookings for unspecified dates so there isn't another clash...
Also, being local, I don't have to make any travel plans so I'll leave it up to other folks to decide a date and I'll just go along with that
Just a quick note on the venue: we had the last couple of Brum meets at The Dragon Inn in the Chinese Quarter, but all the rebuilding work going on at New St station currently means that where passengers exit is about halfway between The Old Joint Stock and The Dragon Inn... So we could hold the meet at either...? The Dragon Inn is near some quite good chinese restaurants, but then again The Old Joint Stock served good food in-house
I haven't been in either of those pubs for a couple of years tho, so I might have to do a quick recce to make sure they still sell some good ales

Hi Futsie, if you could do a quick reccy, that would be good. Wetherspoons tend to be the best because of cheap beer and food. _________________ --

Any decision as to a date. I could perhaps do the 26th October. |

We are waiting for Futsie to check out the venues, and then I'll get it all set up with a Facebook event etc. _________________ --

Steve
Yed I understand Futsie's checking on venues, but you didn't answer my question re: what date.
So what date is the meet up?
