I liked the original mini-series very much. Though I did think the ending a bit lame. Robin's daughter (I think that was her name) having mystical magical powers that enabled her to save the Earth from Diana's mother ship from destroying everyone a step too far. The build up of not knowing if the Aliens were good or not, what they were really after and for its time the SF were all very good.

The one hour series that followed on after the mini-series was a big disapointment.

I saw the original mini-series when it was on, um, originally...! I really enjoyed it although I agree the ending was a bit of a strained plot device... Although it was kinda moving at the same time...

I haven't seen the new series No Smiley

anyone read "the second generation" novel? picks up the story 20 years after the original miniseries (ignores the final battle, which the author, V's creator kenneth johnson had nothing to do with)

I thought Kenneth Johnson wrote V The Second Generation. I have read it. It's ok, not brilliant. A second alien race is introduced.

he did, I was saying he had nothing to do with the Final battle, and the subsequent weekly series, hence the second Generation novel ignoring both of them.
