Rush has vocals too eh? I've seen Sabs about 8 times. Maybe you're right though from a numbers perspective.

Rush has 3 members, Sabbath has 4. It's simple maths.

Yah, I mentoned that. Your point was about vocals, not maths.

No, his point was that there was a member solely dedicated to vocals, as opposed to most 3-pieces, where the singer also plays another instrument. The numerical signifier in the labels 3-piece, 4-piece etc. refers specifically to how many members are in the band at one tiome, not how many instruments are played.

No. He didn't specify that.

his exact quote is below. It makes no reference to numbers of persons in band. Strictly a reference to vocals, no mention of format-s in the way you have specified.

Vocals?

Trust me, I've seen 'em 5 times.

You're being a touch disingenuous here, Zot.

You asked about Sabbath being a 3-piece and we got the following exchange:

Black Sabbath is a 4-piece.

Bass drums guitar?

and .... ?

Blak was filling in the 'Vocal' quarter of Sabbath's line-up. You're quite right in that he didn't specify that there was a dedicated member but then, you didn't either with "Bass, Drums and Guitar".

Literally translated, his post refers to vocals being considered a 4th piece. Which is not true in a band with 3 members. Therefore vocals are not automatically technically considered a "piece" of a band. No disingenuity on my part whatsoever.

Perhaps if he'd learn to make a point without uneccessary sarcasm, ( as if I didn't know Sabbath had vocals!), he'd have a smoother go of it. I was trying to be polite & add something to the thread when the uneccessary snideness appeared. A bit of ado made out of nothing.

How about I ignore your posts from now on, since you seem to be trying to start trouble over nothing? I think that would be best.

Good idea, but get it straight, you started it not I. & rather than try to at least show you have some sort of interest in getting on with other guests, you instead continue to toss boogers & advertise immaturity.

& Afro, I did say this to him;

I did TRY to be polite/diplomatic to him. Your selective quoting is a tad short of accurate. My reward for an attempt at trying to add something to this interesting thread I suppose. Thanks much.

I've gone for Rush, they've gone through so many stages in their career and have reinvented themselves successfully for several decades. My favourite albums are A Farewell to Kings and Permanent Waves.

I was just thinking about Led Zep. I mean, really, it was just Page, Bonham and Plant. Those other guys weren't doing alot, were they? So I guess if you take that sort of thinking further along those lines, The Jimi Hendrix Experience was a two-piece, Hendrix and Mitchell
