He's elevated body horror into an artform, filmed supposedly unfilmable novels, proved that sometimes a re-make can be superior to the original, blown up heads, done horrible things with parasites and made James Spader look hot....but which is the best Cronenberg movie?

I've not included Stereo, Crimes of the Future or Fast Company as they have had a very limited release.

I picked Scanners, though Videodrome is a close second. I still have yet to see the two most recent ones.

Videodrome is the only one that I've seen with any serious consideration. Top movie, but I can hardly vote for it on that basis.

Which one did he make James Spader look hot in? I have never seen
James Spader hotter than when he was in "Supernova."

I went for Dead Ringers, although, Videodrome is a close second. James Spader did look hot in Crash.

Then I encourage you both to find a copy of "Supernova." My friend
Monica and I both practically fell to the floor and crawled to the TV
going, "Is THAT James SPADER?!!" And besides, it's pretty OK sci-fi.
Well, mostly. and it's got Angela Bassett and that Facinelli guy.

You're missing out there Val - Cronenberg is a visionary IMO!! Even if you aren't into body horror, Spider and Dead Ringers are masterpieces in psychological film making (and both are very moving too IMO)

"Well now," - I saw this too and, I'm afraid I was just as confused as you were and, very BORED by the end of it. Thank god for the two episodes of, "STAR TREK" that followed it.

Confirms my suspisions and, don't mind missing out on this genius (??) of the "HORROR" Film genre - as won't be watching anymore of his Movies!!!

My 2 cents. I'm a Cronenberg fan and I didn't like Existenz at all. The difference between Existenz and Scanners is like night and day, not very representative of his best work by any means.
