Hi Rocks! Wave
Glad to hear it's a nice place out there! A 2km wide fire sounds a bit scary tho! No outdoor "barbies" then I guess?

Yeah big fire Futsie, I was out dealing with hotspots today and guiding in the helicopter with monsoon bucket. The area is a swampy and peaty and the fire is still burning in the peat, a real bugger actually.

I am loving the new job, fire was a bit out of the blue but it has been great being involved in fighting a large fire. It really makes you appreciate what is involved. I hope you are doing ok mate, it would be good to chat soon. Have you seen much of Afro and Artilla lately?

Cheers,

Rocks

Bloody great to hear from you, rocko! I'm so envious of your new Jarvik-like environs. Bloody mad!

Very Jarvik like here Afro. You need to be very independant and resourceful out here as things are very expensive and delivery times much slower. I never thought that I would be involved in fighting a large fire. I am told that it is likely that I might get involved in helping with whale strandings as well.

Good to see you are still alive mate, I was starting to get a bit worried there.

Well hopefully I'll go out fishing shortly and bring back a decent feed of cod, I caught heaps the other day you wouldn't believe it.

It is great being back in touch with people now, it is a good feeling.

Cheers for now though, see you around.

Well, the fire seems to be under control but still burning in the peat. This week I have been dealing with a sperm whale stranding, just the one animal. There are positive signs that the whale might be gearing up to go back out to deeper water. I wonder what the Blake's 7 crew would have made of a whale stranding? I have moved out to a seaside cottage for Christmas and my missus is coming out to visit me. Hopefully she brings all the curry spices I have requested as I am so missing a good curry. Am very tired, a very late party last night and then I had to walk the feral cat trapline today, I was a bit queasy.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my buddies in here, it would be great to catch up with some of you shortly.

I am entering the local fishing contest on Boxing Day and intend to watch the local horse races.

OK catch you later.
