I reckon this will be a three way fight between Harvest (sorry Afro! ), Dawn of the Gods and Sacophogus (which I quite like!)

Anywho...

Dawn of the Gods, though Ultraworld and Children of Auron are hot on its tail! This season veers wildly between great episodes and appalling ones!

Has to be Moloch. Some others run it close, but Moloch wins for it's sheer nastiness and vile mysogyny. If I never see this horrid piece of TV again, I'll be content.

I hate the idea of the cloning machine in Moloch, too. Like Orac, here is a piece of technology that would revolutionise society at all levels by completely transforming the economy and industry yet the impacts are barely explored in the story.

It's Harvest, it comes almost to the point where it's an episode from a different series. Space. Captain. Tarrant.

Yeah I voted for Moloch. The treatment of the rape themes is very poor and makes far too light of the subject. Italso has endless exposition scenes! I've sort of come round to Harvest and Power, but this is one Steed story I think just doesn't work.

I like the idea of Dawn, but the execution is way too staid. It would have been much better if it had all looked surreal and mad. In fact, in an ideal world it should have looked like Brazil (the film, not the country obviously! )

Harvest is just rubbish and silly. Power does have a bit of a nasty edge at times but it's nowhere near as awful as Moloch.

Dawn of the Gods runs Moloch to a close second. Volcano is dull, Deathwatch has to be the most boring episode Boucher wrote (then again, I'm not a Tarrant fan), and Ultraworld is just crap.

Actually, with the exception of City at the Edge of the World and Rumours of Death, I just don't like season 3 as a whole.

The rape theme could have been a pointed, important theme if it had been handled better. It could also have returned some of the edge the show lost after "The Way Back." What if Vila's friend had returned to the Liberator and the others had not known of his tendencies until he tried to attack Cally or Dayna? Some of the vigilante/revenge themes of the bullying shown to Shrinker could have been further explored. What if our criminal friends had a truly dangerous and repulsive outlaw in their midst. Would Avon truly throw someone out of the airlock or shoot him if he had been a crew member for a while. What would Vila's reaction be if Avon killed his friend?

There is potential there but obviously the episode would have to be handled with great sensitivity and the children in the audience would need to be considered but it could potentially have been one of the darkest episodes of the series.

I kinda agree with a lot of points said about various episodes, but at the end of the day I judge pretty much 99% "does it entertain me" and 1% other considerations - particularly moral obligations the show might have.

Hence Sarcophagus gets my vote. And don't get me wrong - I'm not really in the "I really hate this episode" camp - I do respect the creativity and ideas expressed. But at the end of the day its the episode I least look forward to watching.

In saying that Volcano and Ultraworld were not far behind.

Yeh Moloch could have been explored better, but so could a lot of episodes and I will judge purely on what they did come up with and so be it. Moloch ain't the greatest but I do enjoy parts of it.

Difficult choice again but decided on Moloch.
