Should Servalan have died in Terminal? I say yes. It was the perfect ending for her, destroyed by her own greed. Her realisation that Avon feels more intensley about Blake than he will ever about her is beautifully played and her scenes with him bring to a climax many of the character threads we see running through Season 3. Bar Star One this is Jackie Pearce's best episode. It would have been a great exit.

Instead she was brought back in a silly way that made no sense, given the most godawful outfits imaginable to wear and (through no fault of Jackie's) was reduced to a parody of herself by scripts that for the most part had nothing worthwhile to do with her.
Anyway, vote !

I have to agree with 'Cockroach Boy' bringing Servalan back in a supposedy other quise was just so pointless and not very well thought out. Given 's high profile both as the Supreme Commander/The President of the Fed Symbol did she really expect no one to notice!!

Firstly, the Crew found her instantly recognisable Her picture was dorned on the wall on Helotrix. Ardus recognised her voice & threats in Animals. Incidentally, whilst uncomfirmed I believe Ardus was infact Councillor Joban from Hostage Yes Smiley - maybe he was playing the same 'in hiding game' as Servalan!

Investigator Reeve knew who she was in Sand "We never actually met. But I was at one of those official receptions for good and faithful servants that you occasionally graced with your presence" even Keiller & Egrorian knew who she was!. And if that weren't enough over 8.7 Million viewers knew who she was On the whole - was not a good idea bringing her back as Sleer!

And therein lay the problem!! I personally would have prefered to have gone out with a whopping big bang in the one thing she had tried to get her hands on most!! - Liberator then try to reinvent her as Sleer and just watch 'her' fizzle out' in Warlord !

Had remained as thoughout the 4th series, then that would have contributed more to the ultimate downfall of Avon and more importantly from her viewpoint therefore 'she' would have have been present in the final showdown if it were infact a Fed Symbol trap

Sacrilege!

Sheer Sleer Sacrilege!

They were right to bring Servie back as Sleer in season 4. Sleer rising through the ranks while, we presume, everyone in the federation knew it was really Servalan emphasises the brutality of the regime. The faceless cowardice, the deception, the underhanded machinations within the corridors of power. Servalan's lust for power through her dark manoeuvres is emblematic of "not what Man developed from. It is what Man will become"

I think the only reason she was revived for season 4 was because the producer couldn't find a replacement to fill her shoes.

It is just a shame that she didn't appear in the final episode. Avon surrounded and Serveran appears and Avon smiles. Would have been a perfect ending rather than a frezze frame on Avon with that famous smile and cut to the credits with the sound of gunshots going off.

They could have done both.Servalan appears, offers Avon a chance to surrender if he gives her Orac.Avon steps over Blake, smiles, credits, then gunshots.Let the viewer wonder as to who got shot.

There was a time where, before I watched the re-runs, I swore black and blue that Servalan had appeared in the final episode at the end.
The fact that it was expected, may have had something to do with it.
But I think that re-inventing her as Sleer was a mistake.
Terminal was her best episode as Servalan. She finally had the Liberator and it disintegrated.
What irony!

I believe Sleer was originally conceived as a totally original character. That wouldn't have been so bad, especially if they'd opted for a very diffeent look for the character - maybe a fat old woman like that scary Nazi Anne Widicombe!

Those are my thoughts on how Avon escaped the shoot out on GP - amazing really!

I think that we could all be wishing they had left Avon dead on GP rather than have him come back 20+ years later in this, not to see the light of day, new series. In the same way some of us, on reflection me included, think they should have killed of JP at the end of series 3.

It was a bit silly having JP in series 4 especially if she did not have anything to do with the final shoot out on GP. I mean what was the point of her being in the show. She had no real power, she was not a threat to Avon and co., it was almost as if it was a show within a show. Would Avon and co survive and what would happen to them as one story. The other being would JP survive and what would happen to her. There was no real tension between those characters as seen throughout the first three season.

In all fairness that is what Zen said he'd do!! "All resources now concentrated on maintenance of teleport facilities...."
