I assume "security robot" refers to the one in "Seek-Locate-Destroy", absolutely hilarious!!!

Yeah that's the one. It was even funnier in 'Project Avalon' when they'd sawn the poor things arms off!!

I 've voted for the Avalon replicant too at least it is a little more hi-tech than the other robots

The robots in B7 were limited by a tiny budget but the ideas behind them were great, Avalon, Vinni, the android in Headhunter.

I like the one from Volcano coz it was such a great combination of sheer naffness and the robot-movements thing that was a bit of a fad in the 80's

I wonder if Tery Nation was hoping the security robot was something that could be merchandised like the Daleks? If so, I imagine he might have been a bit disappointed when he saw the finished result!

According to the lecture/speech that Darrow gave at Cambridge University in 1981 (a transcript of which can be read on the Judith Proctor site), Terrry Nation originally wanted Orac to be a robot with arms and legs, for the very pupose of marketing him as he had the Daleks. For some reason, the BBC refused to allow this.

Well at least the BBC got that decision right.

None were that great - Avalon replicas head sfx was hilarious . Metal Mickey was funny , Headhunter one was a bit silly , basically what you would expect from the budget packed 70`s !

That's probably why the best of the so-called ANDROIDS in "B7" has to be "VINNI" because it was more like you'd expect and, it didn't realise that it wasn't "HUMAN" itself.

Both the Security ROBOT and the, MULLER Android where hillariously funny!!!

"AVALON" was alright until the SFX scene let things down. The one in "VOLCANO" looked like it had teleported straight out of, "BUCK ROGERS".

Vinni's my favourite of the robots. The idea of a gunfighter android that think it's human is very interesting, especially considering that Death Watch was made before the Blade Runner cult had really got started. Plus there's something quite cool about the way he tells Deeta 'You're a dead man'.

The Season 1 security robot was terrible but totally endearing.

The worst of the bunch was the thing from Dawn of the Gods - though it's great fun watching everyone try to pretend it's intimidating!!

From that list Vinni has to be the best, but I quite liked all of them to some degree or other.
