Why is Meegat left behind? THere would be nothing left for her once the prophecy is fulfilled. Perhpas Avon did not want to take her aboard the Liberator as that would spoil the illusion that he was a god! |

Even though we only saw Meegat there were others in her community. For all we know they live well enough and are happy - indeed they were probably better off where they were on a planet the Federation had no interest in than elsewhere. |

I had that same question initially.
Upon reviewing the episode, I see that Meegat does say there are a few of them left alive on the planet, something like 200? I think, but that they are dying slowly from the radiation.
So it still doesn't answer the question why Blake and the crew just leave them there, does it? This was one of the times I questioned Blake's altruism. Of course, I also didn't like it much when they blew up the Moondiscs that just saved Cally and the ship. _________________ LOOK, IT'S BEEN SWELL, BUT THE SWELLING'S GONE DOWN. |

Could the women in this episode be any more pathetic? Jenna gets captured and has to be rescued, Cally gets held hostage and has to be rescued and Meegat has spent her whole waiting for Avon and then just gets abandoned anyway!
Thank god for Servalan. The scenes at Space Command are the best thing about this episode, with the Supreme Commander (still not referred to by name anywhere except in the credits) taking centre stage from Travis. |

Oh, I don't know. Everybody needs to rescued at some time or other in B7. Why do you imply that the women are pathetic when it happens to them? As for Meegat, she was diligently serving her community. Why do you assume it was 's decision to leave Meegat behind? Going by what we saw, Meegat could have thrown over to go and help her community. Meegat is a role model for independent, in-control women everywhere _________________ As I was saying, we all have to learn to live with disappointment |

Depends how you take Avon's line that Meegat thought he was a god 'for a while' and Blake's line about 'responsibility'. To me the implies that he's disappointed her in a fairly major way and her faith in him is gone.
As for Cally and Jenna needing to be rescued all the time - well this episode to me is the point at which two previously interesting characters suddenly stop having anything to do each week. From here on in Jenna is Teleport Girl and Cally will only be interesting when she's possessed. It seems a shame and a waste of two good actresses. |

It's interesting to see quite a few Eastenders regulars in a different light, here it's Tony Cauntner later to play Roy Evans.
Any idea what Cally was listening to on the video-shades? |

It's a nice jazzy tune Cally is listening to.
Interesting how the way things are said here affect their meaning:
Just before teleporting:
BLAKE “Be careful”
AVON “Alright” (pause) “Put us down”
Avon is being respectful
Before teleporting again:
AVON “We'll go back down”.
BLAKE (bitterly)“I think you'd better”
Blake could have just replied normally
At the end:
AVON “Don't you know?”
BLAKE (seriously)“Yes. I don't like the responsibility, either.”
Blake could have said it jokily (about 'the god' Avon!)
It seems in ‘Deliverance’ Avon is respectful and Blake is a bit mean. _________________ Last Watched: The Web |

I disagree. In the first exchange, Avon has no real option other than to be respectful, and rightly so. In the second exchange, Blake has a right to be a bit shirty, it's his crumpet that's at stake because of Avon's bumbling. As for the third exchange, Avon clearly kicks off the snide proceedings with his “Don't you know?” remark.
Avon is merely the not-yet silverback who gets pumelled by the actual silverback! Yep, Blake is the top gorilla. _________________ As I was saying, we all have to learn to live with disappointment |

Surely Avon was just replying to Blake's sarcastic "How did it feel?"
It's just interesting that these last few lines were interpreted seriously when it could have been done with humour; maybe there were notes in the script. _________________ Last Watched: The Web |

That's the beautiful thing about Blake's 7. Even lines that are said with the utmost seriousness have the capacity to induce a fountain of mirth.

Or even lines said with the utmost mirth have the capacity to induce a fountain of seriousness. _________________ "Women, food, and inflicting pain -- in no particular order."

Watched this followed by "Orac" recently with a friend who is new to B7, first eps I've watched in a long time. _________________ "Blak" sheep of the B7 forum family! |

I've always assumed that Avon's rueful comment that Meegat thought he was a God 'for a while' meant that, whilst waiting for the Liberator to come within teleport range, he took Meegat aside for a one-on-one game of Hide the Space Rocket.
Presumably, in Meegat's opinion his performance was less than Godlike.
Also would like to agree with another poster that Cally, normally one of my favourite characters, is pathetic in this episode. She's supposed to be a highly-trained guerilla fighter, yet she gets overpowered by a middle-aged man wearing nasty brown trousers. _________________ This calls for a subtle blend of psychology and extreme violence |

Excellent observation! It seems Cally suffered from a bout of Dayna-itis, before any of the crew knew there was a Dayna _________________ As I was saying, we all have to learn to live with disappointment |
