There's a good article on fanfic here. No B7 mention, but interesting anyway:

Good article, but considering it's a US based site it's not surprising that B7 gets ignored.

Someone once said to me that one of the major reasons for some people who write B7 fanfic is that they want to see the characters live on. I know one writer who does that to give the characters some hope.

Me, I like the fact that there's an established universe to play with, something I can put my own slant on and give it my own stamp whilst fleshing out some of the ambiguities (such as filling out some of the character backgrounds, Jenna and Soolin especially or the Federation political structure, which I'm basing on my knowledge of the Third Reich. Canonical as Terry Nation did have an obsession with the Nazis).

My own PGP (planned out and some work done but nowhere near as much as I'd like) started off as an attempt to do something different to get our heroes out of the GP trap but it's grown massively into a full three season epic, each with 13 episodes/chapters with minor interludes and prequels. And I've become more interested in my own characters than those from the series that I'd resurrected.

But there are a lot of B7 fan fiction writers in the US. I normally go to Eclecticon in New Jersey in November, which is basically a zine coon and populated by fan fiction readers and writers, and B7 normally has a good representation.

Must admit, any B7 fanfic I get usually comes from US. In fact 90% of my stuff is American

I'm not saying that there isn't a B7 fanfic contingent in the States, but rather that as B7 is a British series it would be ignored by the US media who are concentrating on US series that their readers would have heard of.

Please understand something here.
Just because something has made in the USA stamped on it's
posterior does not make it so.
Xena and Hercules were New Zealand Productions.
Tons of our TV productions comes out of Hollyweird North from
Vancouver Canada...
Blakes7 and other UK productions are heavily connected To PBS
{Public Broadcasting Stations} These stations are commercially
free. I give donations to these stations as do Philanthropic groups.
These stations are looked down on by many as being in support of
liberals or blue staters and being too pro Europe. Some consider
them just plain uppity. I love these stations who are also showing
other UK imports...comedy...mystery...documentary...Sci-Fi...and
BBC News too...
