This is mind numbingly stupid -even the main characters are badly written -surely someone should have figured it was Travis long before the end ?

Oh yes! That cracked me up - lol

I have to say this episode has one of the best scenes in my opinion. When they're trapped in the conference hall (cinema?!) - when Servalan is on the screen, I think it's wonderfully done. She looks to both sides at the waiting guards and Le Grand suddenly realises she's been outwitted all along.

Servalan on the big screen at the end is priceless. LeGrande would've pooed her pants right there and then. Utterly creepy if you can imagine yourself in the same position.

I actually think this episode had great potential, especially the atmosphere surrounding the theatre scene.
There seem to be two main problems that ruin the possibilities, though:
1. Why use the mind-control device. Blake would have attended the conference anyway!
2. Why have Travis in the story at all? He is completely unnecessary and raises all of the additional problems:
a. Suddenly finding restraint from killing Blake;
b. Leaving the LIberator instead of taking it;
c. Working with Servalan again after the events from Trial;
d. The crew failing to guess who was udner the mask and so on.
It would have been far more interesting had the character actually been Shivan. A reverse psychological effect could have been employed if the crew suspected he was someone else only to find that it was him. Maybe Shivan could even have been tortured like Blake in the Way Back and could become the one who betrays them.
Overall, it would be interesting to have the increasingly egotsitical Blake have a calsh of personalities with an even more revered resistance leader or perhaps Shivan could have been a kind of role model for Blake.
It would also have been good to see the "action man" of the gung-ho Blake finding himself out of his depth with Le Grand and the other politicians at a diplomatic level befor ehte massacre begins.
Many ideas that were sadly never fully exploited!

I don't mind this episode, but agree that it was totally obvious about Travis being in disguise. Not one of my best but i dont get totally bored watching it like i do some others.

Maybe Travis feeble disguise worked because no-one could understand what he was saying? After the 'You imagine I haven't smelt you out?' line he just seems to be making random noises. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if he was just accusing Glynd of an exceptionally noxious fart

Terrible, terrible episode but worth it for Jackie's steely peformance.

I'm surprised that when he finally took that mask off, a gallon of spit didn't pour out

A lot of the continuity errors stem from the fact that VFTP was delayed. It was supposed to have taken place BEFORE Pressure Point, as indeed was Countdown (it makes for sense for Provine to give Blake information about Control considering he'd worked there).

I'll agree that it's not one of the better episodes, but nowhere near as awful as ANY of Allan Prior's excreble efforts.
