Well now," - having never joined "HORIZON" club.

This was a trip arranged by, a "DW" pal of mine at the time. One of his party of four had to drop out of said visit and, so knowing I was a "B7" fan he asked me to take their place - I didn't refuse said opportunity!

Quote:
At least you got to see them recording, I was working at the bbc at the time, they kept me busy, so only got to see DW being filmed (and totps)

I, also, have never joined HORIZON either....

Ironically, I also got to see the rehearsals for part of the "DW" story - "ANDROIDS OF TARA" a couple of year's earlier and, it was in the same studio. On that occasion it was as a result of chatting with, "DICK MILLS" whilst I was clearing up at the end of the second "DW" Convention. He asked me the question: What was there that I'd not succeeded yet in doing connected with, "DW". I replied: That apart from seeing it filmed in the studio, on location or, getting a part in it - "NOTHING"!!!

So, "DICK" said they'd be rehearsing/filming the next day and, he'd get us in. (Myself and two friends) Then he realised he was on holiday and, couldn't do so - so he asked "JOHN *K9* LEESON" to see IF he'd mind helping out for a visit!!!

Was the Liberator flightdeck set as big as it looks on-screen?

"YES!"

Wish there was a few photos of the set being built. Wish I was older than 5 at the time. Am now only 8 weeks away from my 31st birthday. Amazing how quickly time pasts by.

Was any of the flightdeck seats saved? Or did it all end up in the skips?

Most probably used for other sets and, or junked. Annoyingly, we couldn't take any photo's of our visit or, sneak "ORAC" out of the studio between US, either!!!

BBC policy was (when I was there) that no tv programme, not even totp, were allowed to have photographs taken. They were copyright of the beeb. Some did try to sneek them in, but cameras were a little bigger than today...

When I got to see both this "B7" episode in rehearsal/filming and, the "DW" episode "ANDROIDS OF TARA" in similar circumstances.

We asked IF we could take photo's and, our "B7" chapperone ("JUDITH SMITH") said we weren't allowed to do so but, didn't give any reason why, etc. Likewise when we were the guests of, "JOHN LEESON" - he didn't know IF it was allowed so we didn't do so as, to not get him into trouble!!!

I was at a recording of totps, and a couple of people were trying to take pictures of Bay City Rollers (sad!!), they were very quickly shown the door, after the camera was confiscated. I presume the film was taken out. They did return the cameras.

Now, I've held back, because I dislike fantasy - I like my SF to be lasers, explosions and spaceships - and Sarcophagus is full of the psuedo religious bollox that blights much of Space: 1999 and Deep Space 9.

However, it is a wonderfully written character piece and by the way it's written, Tanith Lee had more feeling for the characters that any of the other Season 3 writers bar Boucher and Nation. So in that respect it's a winner for me. Then again, given many of the poor episodes that make up season three, Sarcophagus is an oasis of quality in an otherwise desert of mediocrity.
