I enjoy Sarcouphagus also because of The Avon and Cally interaction. The setup in the beginning is kind of slow and definately odd for Blake's 7. but the interactions and personalities are important. Indeed this could have been a great episode to re-establish the show and each character's role. Are we still gung ho against the federation or what? I like how this episode kind of showed the burn out of the lifestyle for Avon and Cally.

Worthy.

Near the end of Sarcophagus, Vila makes a pun about Orac getting back on its feet, to which Dayna says: "What a revolting thought." Vila replies to her with: "You should be used to those." What did he mean?

I think what carnell means is that Vila is implying that Dayna has a dirty mind and she would be familiar 'revolting thoughts'.

I must admit, I thought it was an odd thing for Vila to say, unless it was his way of trying to be playful with her. Takes all sorts.

Sorry, complete twaddle from start to finish. The only good bits were the opening and closing credits.

Really had no place in B7 at all. This episode is a bit like the Tom Bombadil stuff in LOTR. Perhaps interesting in its own right but completely out of place to the story that is being told.

Strange episode,I actually had to watch it a few times to appreciate it fully. It seemed to be a cross between Star Trek and Space 1999.It had a supernatural feel to it although I guess if you can explain it scientifically it's not supernatural anymore. The eerie lighting and music made it feel it a bit scary, right up until the end.

Some observations:

1) The showdown between Avon anf Tarrant was bound to happen (I always assumed that globe messed with their minds slightly) and although Tarrant made some good points I don't understand how he considers his life a success.

2) The writers had Dayna succumb too easily to the alien.

3) Although it's Avon who saves the day,it's actually Tarrant who does most of the work.

4) Interesting how differently Avon and Tarrant solve a problem,Tarrant leads a one man charge while Avon lets his foot soldiers attack as he determines a weakness.

5) The special effects were pretty good considering their budget.

6) The whole "you hate me because I'm an alien" thing might have more bite if Cally actually looked alien.

7) Avon's protectiveness towards Cally caused the sparks between him and Tarrant and jeopardized the ship.

Was Sarcophagus originally meant to go out before Rumours of Death?

I just ask because the way the episode is set it seems like they just left Auron.

Strange how this episode splits Fans into either love or, hate it camps. I love this episode but, then having seen the "ALIEN corpse" before, it was shown on tv - it was certainly creepy looking up close!!!

Despite its faults it does have some brilliant dialogue and, is nice for a change to not have other characters in the episode otherthan, the regular crew!!!

Actually, "BC" this is supposed to be the orientated storyline but, "TANITH'S" favourite "B7" character was Avon so he got a fair amount of the storyline, too!!!
