First get the trivia out of the way, Richard Hurdnall who played Neebrox was one of two people who played the role of Dr Who to appear in Blake's 7.

Quite a good episode, with a twist that looks obvious now but I didn't spot it the first time I watched it, but also with flaws. Also, lovestruck Tarrant really is awful and he does let it cloud his judgement, something he is to repeat later with Zeeona. It suggests he wasn't getting any of the other with the crew, or maybe he was just bored with Vila's pleasures.

Soolin also displayed uncharacteristic stupidity. She is a professional assassin, yet she decides to sit down and make herself a target while she has a think. It was only luck that that incredibly slow moving spider didn't get her. Overall though, it was a good episode for Soolin, she figured it out and she had a lot of airtime.

The first obvious flaw was the plot device for Avon getting information out of Neebrox when they are in the cell. If Neebrox was locked in a cell, how did he know all that information about Servalan and the black ship, the comings and goings, the new slaves etc?

The second major flaw was why didn't Servalan just turn off the life support and comms again when it became obvious that Cancer had failed?

Random observations:
The balck ship looked very silver to me (though it was black on the inside).

Why did Cancer bother doing up her hair?

You can see the string on the spider when it's crawling over Avon.

Good quotes:
"I think I would prefer my slave to address me as mistress," - Servalan to Avon.

"I suspect a little suffering would have helped make her a better artist," - Soolin.

"You didn't really expect me to kiss her," - Soolin to Tarrant about Piri.

"All sweet things have one thing in common, a tendency to make you sick," - Soolin to Vila.

Assasin had all the elements of a great episode of Blake's 7...apart from the surprise of Cancer.

It was all far too simple to work out and you end up screaming at your TV when Avon is on screen because he of all people should have guessed...and quite early on.

Back in Project Avalon, after freeing her they all say how "Too easy" it all was...well surely after capturing Cancer with such a pathetic fight that would have been Avon's first concern!

Despite it's flaws a good enjoyable episode.

As, for Avon not figuring out the real identity of Cancer - well, perhaps he was just having one of his off days?

Tarrant, should have stayed at home on, Xenon Base for all the use he was!!!

Soolin, should have realised earlier than she did. And, why she had to sit down to think - for a professional assassin like her, that was just dumb.

One of my favourite quotes has to be that of Avon - (to Servalan)

"I'm afraid that your friend is feeling the pinch, she just got bitten by her own little pet."

I found this to be a thrilling episode from start to finish.

I liked the auction as well and Richard Hundrell was a marvelous addition to the cast.

I certainly didn't see the twist coming.

I like Assasin as it shows that Avon and Tarrant could be taken in by Piri's acting.
Soolin thought Piri was overemotional.
I thought Piri was overacting.

I Think Avon Was More Convinced With Fake Cancer's Acting, The Whole "I've Never Killed For Personal Reasons Before Avon, But In Your Case I'll Make An Expection" Would Have Put Avon's Worries On Him.And He Would Have Concentrated His Efforts On Fake Cancer Ignoring Piri.

Tarrant of Course Was Completely Taken In By Piri, Though I'm Surprised Soolin Took So Long, Although She's Probarly Used too Avon & Tarrant Coming Up With Plans too This Point, It's Her First Real Time too Show Us She Has Brains too

I Luv The Whole Slave Concept, It Seems Very Realistic, Not All Planets Enjoy Military Dicktatorship Conquest of The Galaxy Maleky, I'm Sure Quiet A Few Planets With "Dirty Criminal Males" Would Start Up This Way of Life On A Planet

I guessed the plot from the gitgo...It was really obvious to me!
Cancer was never failing in his/her murderous attempts? Meant a
twist or turn from the normal scenario! They were jumping
through hoops like trained dogs.. It was not foolish of Soolin to
take a breath of air and save the day...Soolin gambled and she
won too! Almost bitten by Cancer does not count as it never took
place...

"Well now," - Regardless, of some of it's faults - it's a good episode and, worth it forthe auction scene alone!!!

Ever tried picturing it the other way around, loads of, females being lined up with Avon being the winning bidder!!! (Wouldn't have minded being an extra in that line up)
