|Her mother was killed when she was young, her father and stepsister were both murdered on the same day, she was raised on a planet where the population wants to kill her and the only one she can turn to for consolation is Avon. Oh yeah, she’ll turn out just fine.
Dayna seems to have a unique approach to dealing with adversaries, kill them all and let someone sort them out, then kill him too. It’s slightly understandable considering what she went through the day she met Avon. She never got a period to grieve being she had to flee the planet with only the shirt on her back and then wound up in another adventure. I feel that if she had a chance to bond with Cally she might have been able to talk out some of that sorrow rather than having it turn into rage. The reason being, possibly, that she sensed Cally and Avon already had a bond. Instead she bonded with Tarrant who might be good on missions but not the type to have a good heart to heart talk or instruct her on non-lethal force.
Similar to Soolin, Dayna appears to have adopted the B7 rew as her new family. She’ll do her part to maintain it and anything to protect it. As in most families the youngest is usually the one not to listen to advice, act rash, and rebel against authority. Still, she’s brave, intelligent, loyal, and willing to go on dangerous missions. A bit of a death wish, perhaps, because she’s seen so much of it. She also seems to have gotten use to it judging by her taking Cally’s death and Tarrant’s apparent death in stride.
It would have been nice if her inventor side was utilized more, rather than just weapons I’m sure she could have made some improvements to the Scorpio.
