OH god I can't remember the name of it now - about a plane crash I think. All that seemed to be going on in it was people boinking all over the place (if this board will allow those kinds of words). I just sat there crying out - give me plot, for gods sake give me plot!

Let me see if I can find the title.........

Okay found the title - not Stephen King (sorry Stephen!!!!) James Herbert.

The Survivor - liked the film (kinda) - book SNORE!!!!!!

So apologies to Stephen King fans, I now turn to insult James Herbert fans.....

However, having said that I have watched a couple of Stephen King movies - wasn't hugely impressed there either.....

Oh dear - I'm willing to be educated though.

The Survivor was one of Herbert's poorer books. Try The Rats as a starting point for Herbert.

On King, don't judge the books by the films. Only Carrie was a better film than book. For King books, try maybe Christine, It or The Shining as a starting point. The Stand is also excellent, but very long.

While I'm not a connoisseur of the genre, Lisa was in full agreement with the books on your list.

Mind you, you say in the post above that only the film, Carrie, was better than the book. Either you haven't seen The Shining directed by Kubrick, or that book is out of this world!

I thought the book and the film The Shining were both good.
