Doctor Who, with Sarah Jane Adventures a close second.

Good year for TV SF all round really.

Doctor Who - not just the best series of this year, but IMO - despite a couple of disappointing episodes - the best series of Who to date. Turn Left is an astonishingly good piece of television, but the series as a whole was full of stand out moments - the Ood Song of freedom, the destruction of Pompei, the visual beauty of the Library, an army of Sontarans battling with UNIT, the Adipose and...well, pretty much anything involving Catherine Tate. The finale might not have lived up to expectations but the journey to get there was thrilling.

Merlin has been fantastic, genuinely magical and charming.

Torchwood series 2 was very impressive, even if they did kill off their two bestr characters. Tosh's death scene was heartbreaking! It will be a shame if next year's reduced run spells the end for the series just as it's found its direction and started to build a fanbase.

The trailer for Survivors looks good so I've hopes for this (though I've never seen the original series, so I've nothing to compare it too. I sort of imagine The Good Life crossed with Day of the Triffids)

I've put down Doctor Who with Sarah-Jane a close second. I think Torchwood is a disastrous series, merlin just has very little interest for me, no relation to any Arthurian story I've ever heard and the actors are dull and have very little personality. Ashes to Ashes was nowhere near as good as Life on Mars, so I didn't bother after the first couple of episodes.

I haven't seen Torchwood S2 yet (taped but never got around to viewing). I don't like The Sarah Jane Adventures, I don't watch Merlin and it's certainly not Doctor Who and need to wait until I've seen all of Survivors, so that leaves Ashes to Ashes, even though that was a big disappointment after Life on Mars.
