It does indeed open up a can of worms and a lot of very interesting fic could arise from it. My own view is that the conditioning would keep the memories from the conscious mind of a mutoid but not the subconcious. Should the conditioning break down for whatever reason, those memories could resurface. In many ways, it's even more chilling

Not disimilar to the Borg in some respects. I liked the Voyager episode where some of the drones were persuing a whole different existence in their dreams.

I seem to remember a bit where Travis asked one of the mutoids if they remember anything about their lives before ? can't remember the episode it was a stephen grief one.

I believe it was 'Duel'.

There's a few fanfics out there explaining how Travis knew "Kiera" and most of them are pretty good.

Wish I could remember the chunks of that Gan one I had planned.

Depends what sort of memories they have! What might drive someone to want to be a mutoid anyway? Perhaps the very promise of having their memory erased!

(I haven't heard the audio drama, so I don't know if they're *meant* to be able to remember...?)

Soyy,Futsie,I should have put up a spoiler warning.

Mmm..it does make them a bit less chilling, doesn't it?

I agree.Knowing that there's a human being buried deep down inside that can remember his/her past yet incapable of attaching the emotions that should accompany it definitely makes them more chilling.

I've got something planned along those lines as part of my epic PGP.

It's alright Thunda, nothing spoiled!
I was just saying that I haven't heard that audio, so I didn't know if I'd got the wrong end of the stick about how the mutoid memory worked... or didn't work... or was supposed to work... or not!
