The accent thing is interesting...apparently Dayna was one of the first black characters in a mainstream drama who did not talk with a strong afro-carribean accent.
Of course, one of the criticisms of the first two series of B7 was that the cast tended to speak in an overly middle class way, but from Season 3 they seemed to be moving away from that.
My opinion on these new plays is that where audio is concerned, the accent of a peformer is only important in so much as it must be right for the character. I have no problem with a black actor playing Avon, as long as his voice is right for the character - a voice that can be both sinister and silky is necessary IMO. In just the same way as on TV, certain parts require a look that is right for the character. _________________ Everything in life is only for now. |

That's pretty much how I feel. |

I go along with CB and Liberator.
Avon's attitude was reflected in his voice, to have another actor taking his place won't feel right. |

I was a big fan of Avery Brooks in DS9
He has a fabulous voice and really looked the part, same with Michael
Dorn as Worf. I can't imagine a white blue eyed blonde portraying
either character, especially Worf. Their voices were so amazing/unique
Sometime an actor is just right for a particular role and makes it his own. |

I think it would be interesting to see the 7 actually do some more rebel-y/terrorist things. I think it would be interesting to see/hear them do something like detonate a bomb ala real world terrorists, and broadcast pirate propaganda. |

Maybe, but why have a different cast from the "original" when it's an Audio - fair enough IF it was a Visual broadcast!!! _________________ "Valentine" ( 'S Brother)

I'm very concerned about B7 Media's hold on the return of Blake's 7. If you have a look at their web site www.b7media.com - which is listed on the BBC7 site as the 'official' Blake's 7 site - you'll see that among their products is the 'Once upon a World' series, which has its own web site at www.onceuponaworld.net and is clearly based on certain ideologically-biased interpretations of Judaeo-Christian mythology. I very much hope that the Blake's 7 saga will not be hijacked by La Haye-type fanatics who think they can use one of the 20th century's most individual SF epics to press their fundamentalist agenda. _________________ Helotrix |

I think you're reading too much into that. Those stories were written donkey's years ago (they must have been if John Le Mesurier is reading them).
I think that they're just trying to grab any products they can to help raise some money for the brand. _________________ Louise and Simon's Blakes7 Fan Site

We begin proceedings with a scene where disgraced revolutionary Roj Blake is woken from suspended animation by the crew of a prison ship, London. |
Does this mean that the entire series as we know and, love doesn't exist?? _________________ "Valentine" ( 'S Brother)

Not really - it would just mean two parallel takes on the same story - like the Hartnell and Cushing versions of the first two Dalek adventures. _________________ Everything in life is only for now. |

Redemption will have an exclusive on the new Blake's 7 audio adventures.
As well as James Swallow, who has written some of the new audio adventures, Simon Moorhead from Blake's 7 Productions will be with us on Sunday. He is bringing with him the trailer for the audio adventures, and Redemption will be the UK premier for this being presented to an audience.
Simon has also said this will be the last chance for people to ask questions about the past and the various controversies that have been around. After Redemption, they will draw a line under the past and no longer answer questions about what has happened either in person or in writing. _________________ --
