I see Andrew Sewell of B7 Productions got the rights to Blakes 7 from Terry Nation's estate several years ago and a TV Movie was rumoured for a while. Presumably B7 Productions ideas are considered by the BBC or how does it work nowadays with all these independant media production companies?

I just wonder if this is all just an elaborate wind up! I'm sure they knew doing a remake would wind people up - especially all the ladies who are always telling us there can only ever be one Avon.

"Well now," - There is only ONE Avon - PERIOD!!!

Why's everyone so worked up about actors being replaced? it's not like their going to outlaw any mention of the old series or the actors. And if you don't like it, then you don't have to listen to it.

I'm sorry, but I have problems with people who moan, like in the Doctor Who community - Complain when it's off air that it should be brought back, then complain that its rubbish when it is brought back.

Pleased to hear India Fisher and Doug Bradley will be in these. Also very pleased that Ben Aaronovitch will be involved - his New Adventures novels 'Transit' and 'The Also People' showed a skill for 'world building' that should suit B7 down to the ground. In fact his glorious 'Remembrance' novelisation was practically the pilot for the whole NA project.

IMO a new version of B7 won't 'invalidate' the old. As long as its well made, I think any chance to further explore the themes of the TV series is to be welcomed. Hell, it might lead to more people discovering the old series.

As to the re-casting...well, yes it will seem strange. But then it's not so different to (for example) the Dalek movies re-casting Peter Cushing as the Doctor.
