I agree, gotta be the Cybermen.

The Autons in Rose were just wussy compared to the original. I really like the new harder look for that Daleks but 'Dalek' although it was okay is always just gonna be the 'nice' version of 'Jubilee'. (yeah I know, 'Jubilee' was aimed at fans and Dalek at a wideraudience. But Jubilee is breathtakingly, wonderfully sick with its dimembered midgets and inbred insane rulers and I'm always gonna love it for that) Parting of the Ways was awful.

Loved School Re-union, had quite a lump in my throat when the Doctor said goodbye to Sarah.

The Cybermen win it though. They looked amazing marching through the mist. A redesign which stays true to the spirit of the original.

I'm not sure I'd count this as a comeback, particularly as its an alternative time line. I think the auton come back was good because it gave a good storyline for the first episode. "Dalek" was a good episode too.

I hope if the Brig has a comback its better than "School Re-union".

The Autons were ruined, I have zero time for K9 and i felt that bringing back SJS was a sop to the fans, no matter how well it was done it was just playing to the gallery.

The silver giants. Now, whilst it was superbly written and directed, these are not Cybermen. Cybernauts perhaps (see The Avengers episodes The Cybernauts and Return of the Cybernauts), but not Cybermen. This version is the creation of a mad businessman, not the last gasp of a dying race desperate to survive.

Which leaves the Daleks. I don't care if "Dalek" was a rewrite of something else, it was a superb piece of SF in it's own right. All the cliches and jokes about Daleks were swept away, it did something new with the mutants. No sign of that tired cliche Davros either. And it also said something about the Doctor as well.

The Daleks win. Suckers down.

.

To be honest, I think the last gasp of a dying race version of the Cyberman was all but abandoned by the Troughton stories anyway. The Cybermen of The Invasion are the results of mass production rather than 'desperate' creatures of Tenth Planet.
