In order to intercept Federation messages, Blake and his crew seek a crystal they need to break their codes. Avon and Vila teleport down to Fosforon when Avon encounters an old ally and persuades him to assist in stealing a crystal. Tynus, however, betrays him and sends a message to Servalan informing her of the Liberator's presence. Back on the Liberator, Blake and Cally watch as a 700 year old ship is recovered and Cally detects danger on board. Blake sends a warning message to Fosforon and then teleports down to speak to Dr Bellfriar. during an autopsy of the body discovered on the ship a deadly plague is released and soon spreads throughout the planet ...
